Read the poetry of the late Mike Amado [1975-2009], the "Spokenwarrior", the author of four books of poetry, "poems:Unearth from Ashes" Dorrance Publishing Co. [2006], "Stunted Inner-child Shot the TV" Cervena Barva Press [2008] and "Rebuilding the Pyramids" [Poems of Healing in a Sick World] Ibbetson Street [2008]. "The Book of Arrows" Cervena Barva Press [2011] was edited by Jack Scully and Nancy Brady Cunningham.l A life time resident of Plymouth MA, he was a performance poet, a percussionist and drummer, who did lyrical, rhythm-based tomes attuned to the social and semi-political. Multiracial with indigenous blood, he loved his American life, but not its schizophrenic essence. Mike was diagnosed at the age of 13 with kidney dis-ease, he began hemodialysis at the age of 25 for two and a half years, then he received a kidney transplant that failed, in 2003 he began PD a daily home dialysis treatment until his passing in January of 2009. At the time of his passing he left over 800 unpublished poems, as his literary executor it is my hope that "The Book of Arrows" will just be the start of more poetry from the "Spokenwarrior" |
